OUR “FREE CONSULTATION” PROMISE TO YOU
When you are faced with a legal question it is a daunting task. How do you find the right attorney? How do you explain your problem? How do you go about making an informed decision? You are worried about a variety of things, the least of which is what this will cost. We provide you a “free consultation” to address these questions. Here is what you should expect from your free consultation:
The Consultation is Free
Consultation with one of our attorneys costs you nothing. This process is safe and informal, and it is meant to help you to understand your legal issues/problems and the options you may have. Our goal here is to provide you a meaningful guidance as to your legal problem without financial commitment or cost.
Your Free Consultation will be with an Attorney
Once you schedule your free consultation, you will be having that consultation with an real attorney, not an assistant or a paralegal or any other law clerk. In most circumstances, this attorney will be Mr. Menekshe himself.
Your Consultation is Confidential and Privileged
Every part of your consultation; documents you provide and the conversation are all privileged and protected by confidentiality. This is so even though you have not formally retained our firm yet. You are safe to share all your information, questions, and documents. Our goal is to gain a good understanding of your issue. In order to accomplish this goal, it is essential to be truthful and upfront with facts and details without any worries—attorneys are bound by confidentiality rules, even during initial consultations.
There is no Obligation to Hire
You are under no pressure to hire us. Attending a free consultation with us does not obligate you to hire us or pay for the consultation. In fact, you should know that this is an exploratory session for both sides to understand your legal issues and potential options and to get to know one another.
Preparation for Your Free Consultation is Essential
We ask that you provide us with as much information and documents as you can, in order for us to be able to provide you with proper consultation. Therefore, preparation is critical before your actual consultation. That way our attorney will review your information and documents ahead of time and be ready to properly discuss your legal issue with you. We recommend that you provide all information and gather all relevant documents related to your case, such as facts of your case, timeline of events, information on witnesses, supporting documents, such as photographs, police reports, medical records, medical billing, and any correspondence you had with anyone regarding your legal issue, as well as any contracts, court documents, notes, etc., where applicable. We also suggest that you prepare a list of questions you want to ask. Being organized and well prepared ensures every critical detail is noticed and helps the attorney provide more tailored feedback and guidance.
Legal Compensation will be Explained-Contingency Fee Cases vs. Hourly Rate Cases
One of the critical aspects of a legal issue is understanding how the legal compensation will work. We will explain this to you during your free consultation session depending on the nature of your case. Some cases such as majority of the personal injury cases could be handled under what is called a “contingency fee agreement” (where your attorney will only get paid if you win your case) while other cases are more suitable for a retention agreement based on an hourly rate. A free consultation is a great time and place to discuss the financial aspects of a legal representation. You should always keep in mind that while price is important, it shouldn’t be the sole or even the main factor in choosing the right attorney for your case. Attorney’s experience, knowledge, reputation, track record, communication and commitment are crucial in that regard.
Establishing Trust and Confidence
The most important part of an attorney-client relationship is trust and confidence. That is something that goes both ways. It is like going to a battle together, a full trust and confidence is the foundation of this relationship and key to successful outcome. As your attorneys we will always be on your side, and we will keep your best interest on our mind at every stage. During your consultation, you should use this opportunity to evaluate how the attorney is communicating with you, are you being listened to and heard, are you getting the responses you wanted and are you being presented with all of your options. Do you feel comfortable and respected? An attorney-client relationship is inherently personal and requires trust and clear communication. The right attorney for you is the one who makes you feel reassured and confident in their ability to represent your interests. These are also important for us towards making our decision to take you on as a client.
What Happens after Your Consultation
After the consultation, you should take time and reflect on what you learned and how you felt. If you decide to proceed, and the attorney is willing take on your case, you will be provided with a representation agreement outlining the terms of attorney client retention. If not, any information shared during your free consultation will remain confidential, and you are under no obligation to us.
